Check a link.

Paste an Open CKey address to see whether it is active, waiting for its safety scan, expired or retired, and what someone who follows it will see.

A hosted text (/text/…) or short link (/sq/…) address. Or choose the type and enter its seven-character identifier below.

Checking reads the record’s status only. It does not open the link or tell its creator.

The result appears here: the link’s state, what a visitor will see, and when it expires.

What each status means

An address is never given to a different record, so what you see here is the whole story of that address.

  • Active

Hosted text opens as written. A short link redirects to the destination its creator gave, which passed an automated safety scan.

  • Pending scan

A new short link waits for its safety scan. Visitors see “Safety check pending” until it clears, usually within a few minutes.

  • Expired

The expiry its creator chose has passed. A short link then sends visitors to the site’s home page or shows that redirects were revoked, as its creator chose.

  • Retired

The record reached the end of its life and its content was erased. The address stays reserved and is never reused.

  • Blocked

Disabled after a failed safety scan or a confirmed report. Visitors see “Unavailable”, and it is not turned back on.
