Terms of use
These terms cover hosted text (/text) and short links (/sq) on openckey.org. By creating a destination, you agree to them.

Acceptable use
Don’t use openckey.org to publish or link to:
- phishing, credential harvesting, or impersonation of a person or organisation;
- malware, unwanted software or exploit delivery;
- content or destinations that are illegal where you or your readers are;
- spam, or links that hide where they lead in order to mislead;
- harassment, or private information about someone published without their consent.
Don’t try to get around the verification, the rate limits or the safety scan.
Revocation
The operator can disable any destination at any time, for example after an abuse report or a later safety finding, without notice. A disabled destination returns an error and can’t be reactivated. Short links also stay inactive unless their automated safety scan comes back clean.
Destinations and addresses
- Destinations can’t be edited. To change text or a destination, create a new one.
- Addresses are never reused, even after expiry, revocation or retirement. A printed code will never start pointing at someone else’s content.
- Destinations retire after 24 months, when their text or destination is erased.
No guarantee
The service is provided as is, free of charge, with no guarantee of availability, durability or fitness for any purpose. A clean safety scan lowers risk but does not guarantee that a destination is, or stays, safe: sites change after they are scanned. Don’t rely on openckey.org as the only route to anything important, and test printed codes before you distribute them. CKey itself is experimental; see how CKey works.
Software and licences
CKey, meaning the specification, the core and the SDKs, is open source under the MIT licence. This website and its service code are proprietary; all rights are reserved.
Changes and contact
These terms may change; the date above shows the latest version, and the changelog records changes to the site. Questions go to the CKey project on GitHub, and harmful links to the report form. How data is handled is described in the privacy notice.
