A printed code that leads somewhere clear.

CKey is an open optical code, like a QR code with an open specification and room to be beautiful. Make one here, give it a quiet destination, and check any link before you trust it.

Give your code a place to land.

A CKey can carry a link or words directly. When the content is long, or you want to change your mind later, point it at an Open CKey destination instead.

  • Hosted text

Your words on a clean reading page. No navigation, advertising or scripts around them. Plain text by default, or a restrained layout you choose.

  • Short link

A short /sq/ address that redirects to your HTTPS page, but only after Cloudflare’s URL Scanner clears it.

  • Permanent and honest

A destination can’t be edited after it is made, and its address is never given to anyone else. It retires after 24 months unless you choose an earlier expiry.

Up to 100,000 characters. Shown exactly as written; links are not made clickable.

Choose a reading layout

Without an early expiry, the record stays available for 24 months before retirement.

Everything a code needs, in one place.

The tools run the open CKey core directly in your browser. Nothing you type or scan is sent to this site.

  • Make a CKey

Turn a link, text or contact card into a CKey. Choose its size and style, check that it will scan, and download PNG, SVG or a print-ready PDF.

  • Scan a CKey

Point your camera at a printed or on-screen CKey. You see what it holds first; nothing opens until you choose.

  • Check a link

Paste an Open CKey address to see whether it is active, waiting for its safety scan, expired or retired, and report it if something is wrong.

  • Build with CKey

Packages for Swift, the web, Android, .NET and C, with checksums. The CKey core is open source under the MIT licence.

One design, from a sticker to a page.

Every CKey keeps the same frame and dial. As the content grows, the marks get finer rather than the shape getting stranger. Each of these is real and scans.

How CKey works · What a CKey can hold

Built to be trusted, not just used.

  • Checked before it opens

Short links stay closed until an automated safety scan of the destination comes back clean. Anyone can report a link, and a revoked link stops working everywhere at once.

  • Permanent by rule, not by promise

The database itself refuses edits, deletions and reused addresses. What a printed code pointed to yesterday is what it points to today, until it expires or is revoked.

  • Private by design

No advertising, no analytics, no cookies. CKey apps can send anonymous scan counts to help the project; they never include what was scanned. How telemetry works.

  • Open where it matters

The code itself, its specification and every SDK are open source. You never need this site to read or make a CKey.
